All of the Social Security disability lawyers who handle SSDI and SSI cases in the firm are sustaining members of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR). The Veterans’ attorney and Veterans’ Advocate who handle VA benefits and disability issues for Veterans are sustaining members of the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA).
Elie Halpern is the previous owner and founder of the firm and represents claiminants in SSDI, SSI, and VA cases. Elie began his legal career as a legal services attorney in 1968, representing poor people in the State of Washington, Federated States of Micronesia (Chuuk) and Palau. Elie obtained his undergraduate and law school degrees from the University of Minnesota. In 2006 and 2009, Elie and his wife of more than 40 years, spent just over two months doing volunteer work with human and environmental rights groups in Chiang Mai and Mae Sot, Thailand.
Ashley Maxwell is originally from Bridgeport, West Virginia. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in English and History from Concord University in 2006, graduating summa cum laude. In 2009, she obtained her Juris Doctorate Degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law.
Since 2009, Ashley has enjoyed practicing Social Security Law exclusively. She has been a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives. Ashley is admitted to practice in the Eastern and Middle Districts of the North Carolina United States District Court. She started working at Halpern Olivares PLLC in March 2017. Ashley currently lives in Lacey, WA with her husband, Clayton, and their pets. She enjoys running, hiking, traveling and cooking.
Jamie is the owner of the firm. Prior to purchasing the firm, Jamie worked at Elie Halpern & Associates, PLLC for almost 16 years, working in various capacities including Legal Assistant, Certified Non-Attorney Representative, Office Manager, and Attorney.
Jamie earned her Paralegal degree from South Puget Sound Community College, Bachelor’s Degree from The Evergreen State College, and became an attorney via the Washington State Law Clerk Program. Elie Halpern was her mentor for the Law Clerk Program and taught her everything she knows regarding being an effective Social Security advocate. Jamie is a sustaining member of NOSSCR and NOVA member. She volunteers at Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services. She is a member of the Thurston County Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the Western District of Washington United States District Court. In her free time Jamie enjoys spending time with her family, baking, traveling and running.
